Pergola? What the hell is a pergola?

Well i found out after i built this..

wanted to make some shade on the new deck i built last summer
Started with two redwood 2x12 20' as the main support laid 2x6 15' on 16" centers topped it off with 2x2 20' on the top. all the boards are notched on both sides so no fasteners were used. all the joints were cut small and hand filled for a tight fit.










Added notched 2"x2"s










all done? nope it need some lights.


and while i was adding lights i did some lights around the railing too.
